How quality control can help reduce emissions

Wednesday 12th May, 2021

We often think of things increasing when thinking about automated inspection systems; an increased level of productivity, an increased level of quality and an increased level of management. That’s not always the case, though. These intelligent systems can be used to decrease outcomes too, like for instance, emissions.

At a time where climate change is at the forefront of everybody’s mind, the industrial sectors are rapidly being pressured into reducing their emissions. Especially when the EU is tightening their regulations on emissions. Exhaust system quality control is the answer to these problems.

We cover the automotive sector a lot on our blog, whether it’s about digital imaging or how car manufacturers are utilising AI – which is why we thought it’s important we analyse how systems like ours can be used to reduce emissions.

Let’s get straight to the point. In the supply chain, the most impacted are the producers of catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters. These products prevent harmful gases from entering our breathing space. They need to be rigorously tested, and even more so now regulations continue to develop.

Every stage in the manufacturing process is complex and quality control has to be precise. Automation can help streamline this massively and provide in-depth reports to help contribute to the reduction of emissions and providing more efficient exhaust systems.

They can;

  • Automate inspection of these parts for safety and emissions reduction
  • Flag issues before they arise
  • Compare issues with similar
  • Report and highlight issues
  • Improve quality assurance and quality control
  • Avoid unnecessary costs from product recalls
  • Allow car manufacturers to keep up with these newer regulations

Cost is often the barrier for many manufacturers, but automation can help bring costs down – not up. If you’re an automotive business and interested in learning how automated inspection systems can help streamline your processes and reduce emissions, we’d be happy to have a chat with you.
