ITMA ’15 – Post exhibition review

At the recent ITMA textile machinery exhibition in Milan, Shelton Vision exhibited their latest machine vision technology for high performance textile inspection.

On display at the ITMA were live system demonstrations and video presentations of a range of applications currently operating.

In addition to the well known Shelton WebSpector high speed inspection and optimization systems there was an innovative low cost system for slow moving webs incorporating a multiplexing feature to enable multiple planes of view using a single set of cameras. This new system is particularly aimed at on loom and on warp knit machine vision applications.

The technology was extremely well received and it became clear that there is a vast opportunity in the market for high performance systems.

Shelton Vision had a record number of visitors and recorded significant enquiries from over 30 countries resulting from the 8 day ITMA exhibition. Additional personnel were drafted in to man the stand and even with that there were times where the number of visitors was overwhelming. Flexible machine vision solutions

The systems can be used to inspect an extremely broad range of textile fabrics and processes including woven (grey and finished), warp and weft knit (greige and finished), needle punch non-woven, tufted carpets, coating, lamination and many more.

The end uses of the fabrics are spread over a multitude of industries including Automotive, aerospace, apparel (work wear, high performance apparel, fashion), medical, home furnishing, home textiles and bedding to name but a few.
